Services

Ecommerce development services, from platform choice to post-launch

We offer four ecommerce services: Shopify development, WooCommerce development, ecommerce UI/UX design, and AI automation. Most projects use two or three together. If you need ongoing capacity rather than a fixed project, our ProNuts plan provides 160 hours a month across all four for a published monthly price.

The four services

Each service has its own page stating who it is for, who it is not for, what is included and how a project runs. Nothing below is a package name — it is the actual work, with the deliverables named.

  • Shopify Development

Custom Shopify builds for brands that have outgrown an off-the-shelf theme.

Shopify development is the work of building a store on Shopify that does what your business needs rather than what a theme allows.

    • Custom Online Store 2.0 theme or headless storefront
    • App, payment and fulfilment integration
    • Migration with a full URL redirect map
    Shopify Development
  • WooCommerce Development

Custom WooCommerce builds and rescues for stores that need to own their own data.

WooCommerce development is the work of building a store on WordPress and WooCommerce, where you host the software and own the database outright.

    • Custom themes and versioned business-logic plugins
    • Hosting architecture, caching and speed work
    • Migration, hardening and a named update policy
    WooCommerce Development
  • UI/UX Design

Ecommerce UX audits and redesign measured against conversion rate, not opinion.

Ecommerce UI/UX design is the work of deciding how a store looks and how customers move through it, from landing page to completed order.

    • UX audit against a published checklist
    • Redesign of the highest-revenue templates
    • Design system and tokens, where they earn their cost
    UI/UX Design
  • AI Automation

Automation for online stores, scoped against the hours it actually saves.

AI automation for ecommerce means using language models and workflow tools to remove repetitive work from running a store.

    • Product content drafting from real spec data
    • Inventory sync and order routing between systems
    • Retrieval-based support assistants over your own policies
    AI Automation

Which service do you actually need?

Start from the symptom rather than the service. Find the row that describes your situation and the starting point is the one beside it. If two rows describe you, the project uses two services — which is the normal case rather than the exception.

A situation, the service to start with, and why that is the starting point.

Most projects use two or three of these

Buying a single service in isolation is the exception rather than the rule. Three combinations cover most of the work we take on, with the duration each one usually runs to. The durations assume content and product data arrive without a long wait, which is the variable that moves them most.

  • 8–12 weeks

    New store launch

    UI/UX design + platform development

Platform selection, template design against a component library, then the build, migration and launch. The two run overlapped rather than in sequence, which is what keeps the timeline at weeks rather than months.

  • 4–8 weeks

    Conversion rescue

    UI/UX design + platform development

A baseline and audit first, then a redesign of only the templates carrying the most revenue, then the build. Deliberately smaller than a full rebuild, because a full rebuild is harder to attribute and riskier.

  • Ongoing

    Scale-up

    AI automation + ProNuts

One automation built and measured against a real baseline, then a continuing queue of changes on the retainer. Suits teams whose store works and whose bottleneck has moved to operations.

What don't you do?

Four things we are regularly asked for and do not sell. Each one is a different discipline, and naming the boundary is cheaper for both of us than discovering it mid-project.

  • Paid media management

A different discipline with different specialists. An agency running your ads and your store has an incentive problem when conversion is disappointing.

  • Standalone SEO retainers

We build sites that can rank and we will fix technical SEO in a build, but we do not sell a monthly SEO retainer as a product.

  • Brand identity from scratch

We design storefronts against an existing brand. If you need a logo, naming and a brand system, hire a brand studio first.

  • ERP implementation

We integrate with an ERP through its API. Selecting, configuring and rolling one out is a specialist project in its own right.

If you need capacity rather than a project

Some demand is not project-shaped. If the store works and the changes never stop, a monthly block of hours costs less and moves faster than a series of small quotes. ProNuts is published rather than quoted, so you can decide before you talk to us.

Testimonials

What clients say

Every quote is published with the reviewer's name and their written permission. We would rather show a handful of attributable reviews than a wall of anonymous lines that could have been written by anyone.

We were impressed with the team's dedication

We were impressed with the team's dedication and the professionalism of their services. They were consistently responsive, and while their fees were initially a little higher, they were ultimately reasonable, especially considering their willingness to negotiate.

Common questions about our services

Eight questions we are asked before a project starts. Where a question is specific to one discipline, the fuller answer sits on that service's own page rather than being repeated here in a shorter form.

What services does an ecommerce development agency offer?

Most ecommerce agencies offer some combination of platform development, design, integration and ongoing support. We offer four: Shopify development, WooCommerce development, ecommerce UI/UX design, and AI automation. We deliberately do not offer paid media, standalone SEO retainers, or brand identity work, because those are different disciplines with different specialists.

How do I choose which ecommerce service I need?

Start from the symptom, not the service. No store means platform development. Traffic arriving but not converting means UI/UX design. A team spending hours on manual order or content work means automation. Constant small changes with no defined project means ongoing capacity. The situation table on this page maps each symptom to a starting point.

What is the difference between ecommerce design and ecommerce development?

Design decides what the store looks like and how a customer moves through it, from landing to checkout. Development builds that into working software and connects it to payment, shipping and inventory systems. A design that cannot be built is worthless, and a build with no design decisions behind it converts badly. Most projects need both.

Can I hire you for just one part of my store build?

Yes. Each service is available on its own, and a single-service engagement is common — a UX audit on an existing store, or a migration where the design already exists. We will say so if we think a single service will not solve your problem, rather than taking the work and letting it underdeliver.

How much do ecommerce development services cost?

Project cost depends on template count, integration complexity and whether a migration is involved. For ongoing work rather than a project, our ProNuts plan is published openly at $3,200 a month for 160 hours, billed monthly with no lock-in. Project quotes are given as a fixed band before any work begins.

What does ecommerce automation actually include?

Ecommerce automation covers the repetitive work around a store rather than the storefront itself: order routing, inventory syncing between systems, customer support responses, product description generation, and reporting. The useful test is whether a person currently does the task the same way every time. If so, it is a candidate for automation.

Do you offer ongoing support after launch?

Yes, through the ProNuts plan rather than an ad-hoc hourly arrangement. It provides 160 hours a month across design, frontend, backend and AI work with a dedicated project manager, billed monthly and cancellable at any time. Stores that change frequently get better value from capacity than from repeated small project quotes.

Do you invoice in pounds or dollars?

Both. Clients in the United Kingdom are invoiced in GBP and clients in the United States in USD, so nobody carries an exchange-rate surprise between the quote and the invoice. The ProNuts retainer is published and billed in USD, which is why the figure on this page is a dollar amount.
