Ecommerce website development for US businesses

We build Shopify and WooCommerce stores for businesses across the United States, working remotely from Rajkot. The two things that shape a US build more than anything else are sales tax, which is decided state by state rather than nationally, and shipping across a country wide enough that zone pricing genuinely matters.

How do you work with US clients?

We have no US office and no US entity.

Every US project is delivered from our studio in Rajkot by the same people who scoped it, which is the part most agencies of our size cannot promise once a project is signed. Where a US build genuinely differs from a UK one is not how it is run but what it has to carry: sales tax that changes with where your customers are, carrier rates that vary by zone across a continent, and a payment mix that names Affirm and Afterpay rather than Clearpay. Each of those is a decision taken before code is written, and each is one we will put in front of you with the trade-offs rather than pick quietly. Invoicing is in US dollars. The contract is governed by the laws of India, where the people doing the work are based, and that is worth putting in front of your own adviser.

What we build

Four services, delivered the same way wherever you are: Shopify stores, WooCommerce stores, the interface design that decides whether either converts, and the automation that removes manual work from running them.

Which platforms dominate in the US?

Our observation, not sourced data

Our observation of the US market, offered as that rather than as sourced data: Shopify is the default assumption for new consumer brands to a greater degree than in the UK, and the buy-now-pay-later conversation names Affirm, Klarna and Afterpay rather than the UK pair. The bigger structural difference is sales tax. UK stores treat tax as one setting; US stores treat it as an ongoing obligation that changes with where their customers are, which is why tax automation appears in US builds far earlier than in UK ones.

What does a US store actually have to handle?

Every layer below is something a store selling in the United States has to get right, and most of them are decided before a line of code is written. Thresholds and rates are deliberately not quoted here — they change, and the primary sources are linked further down.

What a store selling in the United States typically needs at each layer.
LayerWhat US stores usually need
CurrencyUS dollars, with prices shown exclusive of sales tax until checkout
Payment methodsCards and digital wallets, PayPal, and ACH bank debit where order values are high
Buy now, pay laterAffirm, Klarna and Afterpay are the commonly requested options
Shipping carriersUSPS, UPS and FedEx, with zone-based rates across the country
Tax handlingState sales tax, with economic nexus rules that differ by state
Data protectionNo single federal law; state regimes such as the CCPA in California
Consumer rightsFederal Trade Commission rules, plus state-level requirements

Data and consumer rules

Primary sources

The United States has no single federal data protection law equivalent to UK GDPR. Instead there are state regimes, of which California's is the most widely felt, and a store selling nationally usually ends up building to the strictest one it is exposed to rather than tracking each separately. Sales tax works the same way: economic nexus rules mean an obligation can be created by the volume or value of sales into a state, without any physical presence there. We build stores that can collect the right tax and honour data requests, and we integrate tax automation where the footprint warrants it. Where your obligations actually begin is a question for a tax adviser and a lawyer, not a web developer, and nothing here is advice.

Nothing on this page is legal or tax advice.

Where US businesses sell next

These are the markets clients in the United States most often ask about once the first store is trading. Each has its own payment habits, carriers and regulator, and a store built for one does not automatically work in the next. Every other market we cover is listed underneath.

US questions we are asked

8 questions specific to working with us from the United States, including the one most agencies avoid: whether anybody at this studio is actually in the country.

Do you have a US office?

No. We work from Rajkot, India, and there is no US address anywhere on this site, in the footer or in the schema. What you get instead is the same team on your project each week, a board you can open without asking, and a written record of what was decided and when. If a project needs someone physically on site, we cannot do that part.

How do you handle US sales tax?

By building the store to collect correctly and, where the footprint warrants it, integrating tax automation that keeps rates current. What we do not do is tell you where you have an obligation. Economic nexus depends on your sales into each state, and that determination belongs with a tax adviser rather than with us.

Which platform would you recommend for a US brand starting out?

Our opinion, and it is an opinion: Shopify unless there is a reason not to, because the tax, carrier and payment integrations a US store needs are already there. WooCommerce earns its place when the site is content-led first and commercial second, or when you need control the hosted platform will not give you.

Which buy-now-pay-later providers do US stores use?

Affirm, Klarna and Afterpay come up most often in the US briefs we take, which is a different mix from the UK. All three integrate with the platforms we build on. Whether the fee is worth the conversion lift is a commercial decision we will give you an opinion on but not make for you.

Can you handle shipping across US zones?

Yes. Zone-based rating matters far more in the United States than in the UK simply because of distance, and flat-rate shipping across the whole country either loses money on long hauls or overcharges local customers. We configure rates that reflect what carriers actually charge you by zone and weight.

What about CCPA and other state privacy laws?

We build the mechanisms a store needs to honour them: disclosure of what is collected, a route for access and deletion requests, and records that make those requests answerable. Most national sellers end up building to the strictest state regime they are exposed to. Which ones apply to you is a legal question.

Do you invoice in dollars?

Yes, US clients are invoiced in US dollars. The engagement itself is governed by the laws of India, where our team is based, and that is stated in our terms rather than hidden in a schedule. It is worth putting in front of your own counsel before signing rather than afterwards.

Can you support a US launch on a UK-built store?

Usually yes, and it is a common second phase. Adding a US market means dollar pricing, tax collection, US carriers and often a different payment mix — significant configuration, but rarely a rebuild if the store was structured for more than one market at the outset. We can tell you which of those is true after looking.
