Ecommerce website development for French businesses
Ecommerce development for French businesses turns on two things a foreign-built store usually misses: delivery to a pickup point rather than a doorstep, and a site that is genuinely in French rather than translated. Both change conversion more than design does. We build remotely from Rajkot and hold no French office.
How do you work with French clients?
We hold no French office.
Work is delivered from our studio in Rajkot, on a shared board you can open at any time, with every decision written down the day it is made and scope changes priced in writing before they are built. What is specific to France is language, and we are direct about the limits. We build the structure a French store needs — a content model where every product, every category and every legal page has a French field rather than an English one with a translation bolted beside it, URLs and metadata that are French rather than transliterated, and formatting that matches French convention for dates, addresses and numbers. We do not write your French copy. Machine translation of product content reads as machine translation to a French customer, and in a market where advertising to consumers is expected to be in French, that is a commercial problem before it is anything else. So the working arrangement we recommend is that you own the French words and we own the structure that carries them, with a review cycle that assumes copy arrives from your side rather than ours. Invoicing is in euro. Contracts are governed by the laws of India, stated plainly in our terms rather than buried, and worth raising with your adviser before signing.
What we build
Four services, delivered the same way wherever you are: Shopify stores, WooCommerce stores, the interface design that decides whether either converts, and the automation that removes manual work from running them.
- Shopify in Europe
Shopify Development
Shopify development is the work of building a store on Shopify that does what your business needs rather than what a theme allows.
- WooCommerce in Europe
WooCommerce Development
WooCommerce development is the work of building a store on WordPress and WooCommerce, where you host the software and own the database outright.
- UI/UX in Europe
UI/UX Design
Ecommerce UI/UX design is the work of deciding how a store looks and how customers move through it, from landing page to completed order.
- AI in Europe
AI Automation
AI automation for ecommerce means using language models and workflow tools to remove repetitive work from running a store.
Which platforms dominate in France?
Our observation, not sourced data
What we see in the French market, offered as our observation rather than as sourced data: Shopify and WooCommerce both have a strong presence, and PrestaShop retains a real installed base here that it has almost nowhere else — French businesses are considerably more likely to arrive with an existing PrestaShop store than businesses in any other market we work with. We build on Shopify and WooCommerce, so where a PrestaShop migration is what you actually need, we will say whether we are the right team for it rather than quoting for a rebuild you may not want.
What does a French store actually have to handle?
Every layer below is something a store selling in France has to get right, and most of them are decided before a line of code is written. Thresholds and rates are deliberately not quoted here — they change, and the primary sources are linked further down.
| Layer | What French stores usually need |
|---|---|
| Currency | Euro, with prices shown inclusive of VAT to consumers |
| Payment methods | Cards, frequently co-badged with the Cartes Bancaires network; Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal |
| Instalments | Paiement en plusieurs fois is an expectation on higher-value baskets, not a novelty |
| Shipping carriers | Colissimo, Chronopost, Mondial Relay, Colis Privé; pickup-point delivery is mainstream |
| Tax handling | French VAT, with one-stop-shop reporting for EU distance sales |
| Producer obligations | Extended producer responsibility and the Triman sorting mark apply to many goods |
| Data protection | GDPR and the Loi Informatique et Libertés, regulated by the CNIL |
| Consumer rights | A fourteen-day withdrawal right on most distance sales |
Cities we cover in France
Each city page describes what commerce actually looks like there rather than repeating this one. If your city is not listed, the service is identical — we simply have not written a page worth publishing about it yet.
A French store has three regimes to satisfy rather than two. Data protection runs through GDPR and the Loi Informatique et Libertés, with the CNIL as regulator — and the CNIL has been notably specific about cookie consent, which makes a genuine reject option a design requirement rather than a preference. Consumer law gives buyers a fourteen-day withdrawal right on most distance sales, stated before purchase. The third is producer responsibility: many categories carry extended producer responsibility obligations and the Triman sorting mark, which is a product-data problem as much as a packaging one, because the information has to reach the customer. We build the storefront controls these require — honest consent, exportable and erasable records, withdrawal terms at the point of sale, and product fields that can carry sorting information. Which obligations apply to your goods is a question for your own adviser, and nothing here is legal advice.
Nothing on this page is legal or tax advice.
Where French businesses sell next
These are the markets clients in France most often ask about once the first store is trading. Each has its own payment habits, carriers and regulator, and a store built for one does not automatically work in the next. Every other market we cover is listed underneath.

French questions we are asked
5 questions specific to working with us from France, including the one most agencies avoid: whether anybody at this studio is actually in the country.
Do you have a French office?
No. We work from Rajkot, India, and say so rather than implying a Paris address. You get a named contact who stays with the account, a shared board you can open without asking, and replies within one business day. Where a project genuinely needs somebody in the room, we are the wrong supplier and will say so.
Why does pickup-point delivery matter so much in France?
Because a large share of French shoppers prefer it, and a checkout offering only home delivery is asking them to accept a worse option. Supporting it properly means a point selector inside the checkout with live availability, not a note asking the customer to choose afterwards, which is how most foreign-built stores handle it.
Can you write our French content?
No, and we would be suspicious of any studio that offered to. Translated product copy reads as translated to a French customer and undercuts the brand you are paying to build. We build the structure that carries French content properly and ask that the words come from you or a translator you trust.
What is the Triman mark and does it affect the website?
It is a sorting mark that applies to many consumer goods sold in France, and it affects the site because the information has to reach the buyer rather than sit on the packaging alone. Practically that means a product field rather than an image edit. Whether it applies to your goods is a question for your adviser.
Do French cookie rules really need a reject button?
The CNIL has been clear that refusing should be as easy as accepting, and banners that make refusal harder have attracted attention. We build consent that works either way and does not pretend a choice was made when it was not. The specific wording you use is worth confirming with your own counsel.
