Ecommerce website development for Croatian businesses
Ecommerce development for Croatian businesses has to plan around a season rather than a steady year. Tourism concentrates demand into a few months, and a store built for average traffic will be slowest exactly when it matters most. We build remotely from Rajkot and hold no Croatian office.
How do you work with Croatian clients?
We hold no Croatian office.
Work is delivered from our studio in Rajkot on a shared board you can open at any time, with every decision written down the day it is made and scope changes priced in writing before they are built. What is specific to Croatia is seasonality, and it changes the engineering rather than just the marketing. A business whose year arrives in a few months needs the store tested against its own peak rather than a typical week, needs a deployment freeze through that peak because the worst time to debug a checkout is the week it earns the year, and needs stock and delivery promises that reflect a compressed window. It also frequently needs two audiences at once — domestic customers and visitors buying in another language and shipping abroad — which is a content and shipping decision rather than a translation task. Croatia adopted the euro in 2023, so pricing is settled. Invoicing is in euro. Contracts are governed by the laws of India, stated plainly in our terms and worth raising with your adviser before signing.
What we build
Four services, delivered the same way wherever you are: Shopify stores, WooCommerce stores, the interface design that decides whether either converts, and the automation that removes manual work from running them.
- Shopify in Europe
Shopify Development
Shopify development is the work of building a store on Shopify that does what your business needs rather than what a theme allows.
- WooCommerce in Europe
WooCommerce Development
WooCommerce development is the work of building a store on WordPress and WooCommerce, where you host the software and own the database outright.
- UI/UX in Europe
UI/UX Design
Ecommerce UI/UX design is the work of deciding how a store looks and how customers move through it, from landing page to completed order.
- AI in Europe
AI Automation
AI automation for ecommerce means using language models and workflow tools to remove repetitive work from running a store.
Which platforms dominate in Croatia?
Our observation, not sourced data
What we see in the Croatian market, stated as our observation rather than as data we can source: WooCommerce is common among small and mid-sized merchants and Shopify appears among newer brands, with a domestic platform sector serving the smaller end. The pattern worth naming is that hosting and capacity decisions matter more here than in a market with even demand, because a store that runs comfortably in February can fall over in July on the same infrastructure.
What does a Croatian store actually have to handle?
Every layer below is something a store selling in Croatia has to get right, and most of them are decided before a line of code is written. Thresholds and rates are deliberately not quoted here — they change, and the primary sources are linked further down.
| Layer | What Croatian stores usually need |
|---|---|
| Currency | Euro, adopted in 2023, with prices shown inclusive of VAT |
| Payment methods | Cards and bank transfer, with payment on delivery still used |
| Seasonality | Demand concentrates into a few months, so the peak is the only load figure that matters |
| Shipping carriers | Hrvatska posta, Overseas, GLS, DPD; pickup points are growing |
| Languages | Croatian domestically, with English commonly needed for visitors |
| Tax handling | Croatian VAT, with one-stop-shop reporting for EU distance sales |
| Data protection | GDPR, supervised by AZOP |
| Consumer rights | A fourteen-day withdrawal right on most distance sales |
Cities we cover in Croatia
Each city page describes what commerce actually looks like there rather than repeating this one. If your city is not listed, the service is identical — we simply have not written a page worth publishing about it yet.
A Croatian store meets the two standard EU regimes, supervised domestically. Data protection runs through GDPR with the Personal Data Protection Agency as the national authority, governing what you collect, why, how long you keep it and what a customer can require you to erase. Consumer law gives a fourteen-day withdrawal right on most distance sales, stated before purchase rather than only in a policy page. The seasonal dimension touches the second: a store whose support capacity is built for a quiet month will be slowest to process withdrawals in the month it takes the most orders, and a right that is technically available but practically unanswered is a complaint waiting to happen. We build a returns route a customer can complete without contacting anybody, which matters most exactly when your team is busiest. Which obligations apply to your business is a question for your own adviser, and nothing here is legal advice.
Nothing on this page is legal or tax advice.
Where Croatian businesses sell next
These are the markets clients in Croatia most often ask about once the first store is trading. Each has its own payment habits, carriers and regulator, and a store built for one does not automatically work in the next. Every other market we cover is listed underneath.

Croatian questions we are asked
5 questions specific to working with us from Croatia, including the one most agencies avoid: whether anybody at this studio is actually in the country.
Do you have a Croatian office?
No. We work from Rajkot, India, and this page says so rather than implying a Zagreb address. You get a named contact who stays with the account, a shared board you can open at any time, and replies within one business day. If somebody physically present is a requirement, we do not meet it.
How should we prepare the store for the season?
Test against your own busiest historical day rather than a typical one, and stop deploying before the peak begins. Most seasonal failures we see are changes made in good faith during the weeks that earn the year. A freeze is unglamorous and it is the single most effective precaution available.
Do we need an English version for visitors?
If a meaningful share of your customers are visitors, yes, and it is a content model decision rather than a translation task. It also changes shipping, because a visitor buying here may want delivery abroad. Deciding both before launch is much cheaper than adding a language and a shipping zone afterwards.
Did the euro changeover affect stores much?
The pricing work is behind us now, and what remains is that older content, printed material and any legacy data may still reference the previous currency. Where a store carries historical orders, the reporting has to handle both without pretending they are the same, which is a data question rather than a display one.
Is payment on delivery still worth offering?
For part of the market, yes, and it brings the usual costs: money after despatch, reconciliation through the carrier and uncollected parcels you pay for twice. Whether it earns its place is a measurement rather than an opinion, and it is worth measuring before the season rather than during it.
