Germany
Shopify development for German businesses
German shoppers expect to be able to pay after the goods arrive, and a store that offers cards alone is asking a market to change its habits. Accepting an order before you are paid is a credit decision wearing a payment method's clothes. We build Shopify stores for German businesses remotely.
What changes about Shopify Development in Germany?
Payment on invoice is normal in Germany and unfamiliar almost everywhere else, which is why stores built for other markets underperform there without anybody being able to say why. The mechanics are straightforward: the customer orders, the goods ship, and payment follows. The consequences are not. You are extending credit to somebody you have not met, which means a decision about who qualifies, what happens when payment does not arrive, and who chases it. Most stores answer this by using a provider that assumes the risk for a fee, which converts an unpredictable loss into a predictable cost and is usually the right call for a business without a credit function. The store's part is smaller but not trivial: the method has to appear where German customers look for it, the order has to carry a state that means shipped and unpaid, and the invoice has to reach the customer in a form their own filing expects. What the terms should be, and what your obligations are around them, is a conversation with your accountant.
What a Shopify Development project includes
Three things, and they do not change by country. What changes is the section above, which is the part worth reading before anybody agrees a scope for Germany.
- Custom Online Store 2.0 theme or headless storefront
- App, payment and fulfilment integration
- Migration with a full URL redirect map
Cities we cover in Germany
16 cities, each with its own page describing what commerce looks like there — what sells, who buys it and what makes selling there different — rather than repeating this one. All four services are delivered in every one of them, and we hold no office in any.
The rest of what we build in Germany
Replatforming rarely arrives on its own. The interface decides whether the new store converts, and the automation decides how much manual work it leaves behind, so the other services in this market are usually the next question rather than a later one.
Shopify Development questions from Germany
Three questions specific to Shopify Development in Germany. The general ones — how we work, what it costs, who owns the code — are answered on the service page, and the ones about selling into this market generally are on the Europe page above.
Do you have an office in Germany?
No. Our studio is in Rajkot, India, and German clients work with us remotely. There is no German address behind this page. We put it in the opening paragraph rather than the footer, because that is where a reader forms the assumption and correcting it there costs nothing.
Do we have to offer payment on invoice?
Nobody has to, and a store that does not is competing without a method a large share of the market prefers. Whether it is worth the cost depends on your basket value and your margins, which is a commercial calculation rather than a technical one.
Who carries the risk if a customer does not pay?
You do, unless you use a provider that assumes it for a fee. For a business without a credit function that fee is usually worth paying, because it turns an unpredictable loss into a line you can budget for. Which provider suits you is worth asking your accountant about.
