Iceland

Shopify development for Icelandic businesses

A business selling to people who walked past the counter has a second sale available months later, once they have gone home and told somebody about it. Almost nobody builds for it, and the store is where it either happens or does not. We build Shopify stores for Icelandic businesses remotely.

What changes about Shopify Development in Iceland?

Somebody who saw a product in person has already done the hard part of being convinced, which makes them a considerably better prospect than a stranger arriving from a search. The problem is that they left with a memory and no route back. Closing that gap is mostly unglamorous groundwork: a store that can be found from the name on the packaging, product pages that match what was on the shelf so the item is recognisable, and a way to buy from abroad that does not fail at the address form. The commercial decisions are where it gets interesting. Whether to ship internationally at all, and if so, saying plainly what the customer pays on arrival rather than letting a courier explain it to them. Whether the things worth shipping are the same things worth stocking, since some of the range will not survive the carriage cost and pretending otherwise produces one disappointed customer per attempt. A short, honest list beats a full catalogue nobody can afford to receive.

What a Shopify Development project includes

Three things, and they do not change by country. What changes is the section above, which is the part worth reading before anybody agrees a scope for Iceland.

  1. Custom Online Store 2.0 theme or headless storefront
  2. App, payment and fulfilment integration
  3. Migration with a full URL redirect map

Cities we cover in Iceland

4 cities, each with its own page describing what commerce looks like there — what sells, who buys it and what makes selling there different — rather than repeating this one. All four services are delivered in every one of them, and we hold no office in any.

The rest of what we build in Iceland

Replatforming rarely arrives on its own. The interface decides whether the new store converts, and the automation decides how much manual work it leaves behind, so the other services in this market are usually the next question rather than a later one.

Shopify Development questions from Iceland

Three questions specific to Shopify Development in Iceland. The general ones — how we work, what it costs, who owns the code — are answered on the service page, and the ones about selling into this market generally are on the Europe page above.

Do you have an office in Iceland?

No. Our studio is in Rajkot, India, and Icelandic clients work with us remotely. There is no Icelandic address behind this page and no office anybody could visit. We put that in the opening paragraph rather than in the footer, because the opening is where a reader forms the assumption.

Should everything be available to ship?

Rarely. Part of any range will not survive the carriage cost, and offering it anyway produces an order that arrives with a price the customer resents. A shorter list you can send confidently is worth more than a full catalogue that disappoints whoever tries the wrong item first.

How would somebody find us again?

From whatever they left with, which is usually the packaging, a card or the name on a receipt. Making sure that name leads to your store rather than to a directory listing is the entire mechanism, and it is a search anybody in the business can run this afternoon to check.
