Shopify development for Dutch businesses

Dutch customers expect fast delivery and they read the cut-off time on a product page as a commitment rather than an aspiration. Publishing one means the warehouse has to meet it every day, including the day something goes wrong. We build Shopify stores for Dutch businesses remotely.

What changes about Shopify Development in the Netherlands?

A cut-off time is the most specific promise a store makes, and it is usually written by somebody in marketing rather than by whoever picks the orders. Order within the next few hours for delivery tomorrow is easy to display and hard to honour on the day a courier collection is late or a picker is off sick. Before it goes on the page, three things need agreeing: what happens when the cut-off is missed, whether the customer is told proactively or discovers it from a tracking page, and who has the authority to change the promise temporarily. Stores that answer those questions can publish a tighter cut-off than they otherwise would, because the exception is handled rather than feared. Stores that do not tend to publish something vague, which costs conversions against competitors being specific. The related decision is what appears when the cut-off has already passed: a page that keeps showing the same message all evening is making a promise the customer will remember as broken tomorrow morning.

What a Shopify Development project includes

Three things, and they do not change by country. What changes is the section above, which is the part worth reading before anybody agrees a scope for the Netherlands.

  1. Custom Online Store 2.0 theme or headless storefront
  2. App, payment and fulfilment integration
  3. Migration with a full URL redirect map

Cities we cover in the Netherlands

10 cities, each with its own page describing what commerce looks like there — what sells, who buys it and what makes selling there different — rather than repeating this one. All four services are delivered in every one of them, and we hold no office in any.

Replatforming rarely arrives on its own. The interface decides whether the new store converts, and the automation decides how much manual work it leaves behind, so the other services in this market are usually the next question rather than a later one.

Shopify Development questions from the Netherlands

Three questions specific to Shopify Development in the Netherlands. The general ones — how we work, what it costs, who owns the code — are answered on the service page, and the ones about selling into this market generally are on the Europe page above.

Do you have an office in the Netherlands?

No. Our studio is in Rajkot, India, and Dutch clients work with us remotely. There is no Dutch address behind this page. We put it in the opening paragraph rather than the footer, because that is where a reader forms the assumption and correcting it there costs nothing.

Should the cut-off time be shown on product pages?

Where you can meet it, yes, and it is one of the more effective things you can display. Where you cannot meet it every day, a vaguer promise you always keep beats a specific one you miss weekly, because customers remember the miss rather than the average.

What happens when we miss the cut-off?

Decide it before publishing rather than on the day. Telling affected customers proactively keeps most of them; letting them discover it from a tracking page produces the messages and the refund requests. The difference is entirely in who speaks first.
