One store serving consumers and businesses at once
The temptation is to build two stores, and it is usually the wrong answer for a business of moderate size — two catalogues to maintain, two sets of stock, and every product change made twice.
The better construction is one store that behaves differently once it knows who it is talking to. What changes is short and specific: how prices are displayed with regard to tax, whether an invoice is produced, what quantities are reasonable without triggering a review, and which payment terms are on offer. What does not change is the catalogue, the product information or the search. The decision that needs care is what an unidentified visitor sees, since the store cannot know which they are until they tell it. Defaulting to the consumer presentation and making the business route obvious usually works better than asking everybody to choose on arrival, because a choice screen in front of a shop costs you the visitors who did not want to be classified before they had looked at anything.

Should we build two separate stores?
Usually not at moderate size. Two catalogues means two sets of product data, two stock positions and every change made twice, which is a permanent cost paid to solve a presentation problem. One store that behaves differently after it knows who is asking is considerably less work.
What should an unidentified visitor see?
The consumer presentation, with an obvious route for business customers. Asking everybody to classify themselves on arrival puts a decision in front of a shop, and it costs you the visitors who simply wanted to look at something before declaring what kind of buyer they were.
What actually needs to differ?
Less than people expect: how prices are shown with regard to tax, whether an invoice is issued, what quantities pass without review, and the payment terms available. The catalogue, the descriptions and the search should be identical, and duplicating those is where the wasted effort goes.
