Shopify development in Madrid
A code created for one campaign has a way of appearing on voucher sites within hours, being used by customers who were buying anyway, and turning up again eighteen months later because nobody set an end date. Codes are useful and they leak by default.

Discount codes, and where they end up
The leakage is not really preventable and it is manageable, which is a different thing.
A code with no expiry, no usage limit and no restriction is a permanent discount you have published, and most stores have several. Setting an end date and a total usage cap at the moment of creation costs nothing and removes the majority of the problem. Single-use codes generated per customer cannot be shared usefully at all, which suits anything valuable, and the cost is that they have to be generated and delivered rather than announced. The harder question is whether a code is doing anything. A discount used mainly at the final step by people who had already filled a basket is a rebate on orders you were getting, and the visible field inviting a code is itself a prompt to leave the checkout and go looking for one — which is why some stores are better off without the field than with the codes. That is worth measuring rather than assuming.
We have no office in Madrid. Our studio is in Rajkot, India, and every project here is delivered remotely — if a supplier who can attend your premises matters to you, that is a fair requirement and we do not meet it.

Shopify development questions from Madrid
Three questions about the subject above. How we work, what it costs and who owns the code are answered on the service page.
How do we stop codes leaking?
You largely cannot, so manage it instead. An end date and a total usage cap set at creation removes most of the harm, and single-use codes generated per customer cannot be shared at all, which suits anything valuable enough that sharing it would actually cost you something.
Is the code field itself a problem?
Sometimes. A visible box inviting a code prompts customers to leave the checkout and go looking for one, and some of them do not come back. Whether that costs more than the codes earn is measurable, and the answer is not the same for every store.
What makes a code worth having?
Reaching somebody who was not going to buy. A discount used at the final step by people who had already filled a basket is a rebate on orders you had, so the useful question is not how many were redeemed but who redeemed them and whether they would have bought anyway.
