AI automation in Chicago
Catalogues built up over years from several suppliers accumulate duplicates: the same item entered twice with different descriptions, or a product that arrived again under a supplier's own name. Each copy splits the sales history, the stock and the reviews, and none of the three copies looks like a good seller.
The same product listed three times under different names
Finding duplicates is harder than it sounds because the obvious signals are unreliable.
Names differ by supplier, descriptions are written independently, and identifiers are frequently missing or entered inconsistently. What works is combining weak signals rather than trusting one: similar specifications, near-identical images, the same manufacturer reference in a different format, prices that track each other. Any one of those produces false matches and together they produce a shortlist worth a person's time. Merging is where the care is needed, because a merge is difficult to undo and the wrong one loses history. The safe pattern is to propose, let somebody confirm, and keep the losing record redirected rather than deleted so old links and old orders still resolve. The benefit is not tidiness. It is that a product selling steadily under three names looks like three mediocre lines in every report you have, which means it is under-bought, under-promoted and occasionally discontinued by somebody reading the numbers.
We have no office in Chicago. Our studio is in Rajkot, India, and every project here is delivered remotely — if a supplier who can attend your premises matters to you, that is a fair requirement and we do not meet it.

AI automation questions from Chicago
Three questions about the subject above. How we work, what it costs and who owns the code are answered on the service page.
Why not match on the product name?
Because names are written by whoever entered the item, and the same product arrives from two suppliers with two descriptions. Name matching finds the easy cases and misses most of them, while confidently pairing unrelated items that happen to share a manufacturer's word for a colour.
Should merging be automatic?
No. A merge is hard to undo and the wrong one destroys history that cannot be reconstructed. Propose the pair, let a person confirm, and redirect the losing record rather than deleting it, so old links and old order lines still resolve to something sensible.
What does duplication actually cost?
Visibility in your own numbers. A product selling steadily under three records appears as three mediocre lines in every report, so it gets under-bought, under-promoted and occasionally discontinued by somebody making a reasonable decision from the figures in front of them.
