Spain
Shopify development for Spanish businesses
Selling across Spain is not one delivery problem. The mainland, the Balearics and the Canaries have different costs, different transit times and different paperwork, and a single national shipping rate quietly subsidises one of them. We build Shopify stores for Spanish businesses remotely.
What changes about Shopify Development in Spain?
A flat national rate is the default because it is simple, and in Spain it is wrong in a specific and expensive direction. Islands cost more to reach, take longer, and in the case of the Canaries involve arrangements a mainland order does not — the details of which are a question for your accountant and your carrier rather than something a store should assume. What the store must do is stop pretending the destinations are equivalent. That means zones priced separately, transit times stated per zone rather than as one national figure, and the checkout telling an island customer the truth before they pay rather than after. Businesses worry that this loses island orders, and in our experience the opposite happens more often: a customer who is used to being surprised at the checkout responds well to a store that was straightforward from the product page. The related decision is what to do about parcels that require additional documentation, and whether that is quoted, absorbed or declined. All three are defensible; discovering it order by order is not.
What a Shopify Development project includes
Three things, and they do not change by country. What changes is the section above, which is the part worth reading before anybody agrees a scope for Spain.
- Custom Online Store 2.0 theme or headless storefront
- App, payment and fulfilment integration
- Migration with a full URL redirect map
Cities we cover in Spain
14 cities, each with its own page describing what commerce looks like there — what sells, who buys it and what makes selling there different — rather than repeating this one. All four services are delivered in every one of them, and we hold no office in any.
The rest of what we build in Spain
Replatforming rarely arrives on its own. The interface decides whether the new store converts, and the automation decides how much manual work it leaves behind, so the other services in this market are usually the next question rather than a later one.
Shopify Development questions from Spain
Three questions specific to Shopify Development in Spain. The general ones — how we work, what it costs, who owns the code — are answered on the service page, and the ones about selling into this market generally are on the Europe page above.
Do you have an office in Spain?
No. Our studio is in Rajkot, India, and Spanish clients work with us remotely. There is no Spanish address behind this page. We put it in the opening paragraph rather than the footer, because that is where a reader forms the assumption and correcting it costs nothing.
Do we have to price the islands differently?
You do not have to, and a single rate means mainland orders are subsidising island ones or island customers are being overcharged. Which of those is happening is worth measuring before deciding, because the answer is usually larger than people expect.
Do you advise on the tax treatment for the Canaries?
No. What applies, and what documentation is required, is a question for your accountant and your carrier rather than for a developer. What we build is a checkout that treats those destinations as genuinely different from one another, rather than assuming every one of them behaves like a mainland order.
