UI/UX design in Amsterdam

Reviews are read by people looking for a reason not to buy, which is why a page of uniform praise is less persuasive than a page with some criticism on it. How they are displayed decides whether they answer doubts or create them.

Showing reviews, including the ones you dislike

The presentation choices matter more than the average.

A score alone tells a customer very little; the useful thing is what people say about the specific concerns this product raises, so surfacing reviews that mention sizing on a page where sizing is the question beats showing the most recent. Negative reviews should be findable rather than buried, because a customer who cannot find any assumes they were removed and discounts the rest accordingly. Where a review describes a problem you have fixed, a short reply saying so is worth more than the review costs you. Two things undermine the whole feature. Reviews without any indication of whether the person actually bought the item are treated as decoration, and rightly. And a rating summary displayed prominently on a product with three reviews implies a confidence the sample does not support, which a count beside it corrects honestly. The general rule is that reviews work by being credible rather than by being positive.

We have no office in Amsterdam. Our studio is in Rajkot, India, and every project here is delivered remotely — if a supplier who can attend your premises matters to you, that is a fair requirement and we do not meet it.

What a UI/UX design project includes

Three things, and they are the same wherever you are. What changes is the subject above.

  • UX audit against a published checklist

  • Redesign of the highest-revenue templates

  • Design system and tokens, where they earn their cost

The other three, and what each one covers

Each answers a different question for Amsterdam businesses. None of them repeats this page.

UI/UX design questions from Amsterdam

Three questions about the subject above. How we work, what it costs and who owns the code are answered on the service page.

Should negative reviews be visible?

Yes, and easily. A customer who cannot find a single criticism concludes they were removed and discounts everything else on the page, so the uniformly positive display is less persuasive than the honest one. Criticism visible and answered is the strongest version of this feature.

What should be shown next to a rating?

The number of reviews behind it. A prominent score based on three opinions implies a confidence the sample cannot support, and customers who notice the discrepancy trust the rest of the page less. The count corrects it honestly and costs nothing but the space.

Which reviews should appear first?

The ones addressing the doubt this product raises. On a page where sizing is the question, reviews mentioning sizing are worth more than the most recent ones, because the customer is reading to resolve something specific rather than to sample general opinion.
